Homework 27th January

Homework this week is to complete the maths sheet in your maths homework book. As usual, it is due in on Monday and it will be marked together and discussed in the maths lesson on Tuesday morning.

This week both year 4 classes have started to design and put together their own Tudor homes. The children have also enjoyed themselves in PE dancing to a very energetic routine – there were red faces all round but it was fabulous to see such lovely teamwork :)

There is a long list of Spelling Stars in class 4PW this week – well done to all the ‘stars’ listed below:

Elena Haden :)
Mae Lewis :)
Ellie Higham :)
Isabella Reidford :)
Alice Harney :)

Homework 13th January.

This week, the homework is a learning log research task.  In their science lessons the children reflected on what they already knew about skeletons and came up with questions they wanted to find the answers to.  They loved looking at Bob, our model skeleton and it promoted LOTS of observations and questions.

For homework, the children are trying to find answers to the questions they wrote on their learning log page.  If they have mislaid it, they should research and find interesting skeleton facts to share in their science lesson next week (Wednesday for 4TW, Thursday for 4PW).

The following link is a useful site of skeleton games that we will be looking at on Monday in our rotation activities.

Homework 9th December

Homework this week is a maths test and is due in as usual on Monday.  The children haven’t any spellings to learn for next week although we will be doing a spelling test based upon spellings that they have had so far this term to ensure that they have retained their words.

Spelling star for 4TW this week is Abby, but I forgot to ask Mrs Wallace who her’s were – apologies 4PW.  I’ll add you in on Monday. :)   Congrats to any spelling stars from today!

Have a good weekend – only one week left until the holidays!  Make sure you know your carol service words for Monday and remember, if you can’t attend the services on Mon or Tue you must write us a note.

The Year 4 crew. :)

Homework 2nd December 2011

Well done to the children for all their hard work making things for the Christmas Fair – we hope you all had a great time. :)

Spelling stars this week are:

  • James
  • Rebecca
  • Isaac
  • Sam
  • Bronwen
  • Alex
  • Freya
  • Josh L

Congratulations to you all and keep up the good work. :)

Homework this week is a maths test.  Mrs Watterson’s class finally have maths test 7 (it magically reappeared on my desk yesterday – very strange!) and Mrs Wallace’s have test 8.

In maths over the past couple of weeks we’ve been looking at time and we have noticed that a LOT of children do not have any knowledge of basic time concepts.  We should be looking at the difference between digital and analogue at the moment, but we can’t do that as there are too many children who don’t even know the o’clocks, quarter past and to and half past, let alone the other numbers.

We would be very grateful if you could practise telling the time at home – asking children to tell you the time instead off you telling them(we know it’s quicker and we’re all busy people but it doesn’t help them to learn to do it for themselves).  They can also practise playing time games such as those found on http://www.woodlands-junior.kent.sch.uk/maths/measures.htm#Time.  These games can be played at levels appropriate to all abilities and the children really enjoy trying to beat the clock. :)

Have a great weekend – not long now until Christmas! :)

Homework 18th November

Well done to all of the children today – you made it a really great Children In Need day! :)

Homework this week is a learning log homework.  The children need to think about why giving money to charity is a good thing.  They have stuck their homework in their learning logs.

Objective: To show why donating money to charity is a good thing to do.

To be completed by Tuesday November 22nd

We have been raising money for Children In Need today and as a church school we encourage the children to be charitable year round.  In this learning log we’d like the children to show us why it is a good idea to be a charitable person.

  • You could show how being charitable helps you and how it helps others.
  • You could look at different charities and give examples of how people have made a difference by donating to their charity.
  • You could find examples of stories that involve charitable behaviour.
  • You could think about what the world would be like if nobody gave to charity.

Spelling stars this week are all from Mrs Wallace’s class again – come on 4TW learn your spellings!!! :)

Well done to:

  • Alex (from last week!)
  • Sam (from last week!)
  • Ella
  • Elena
  • Jacob
  • Josh
  • Isabella

Have a good weekend :)   Oh and thanks Mrs Threadgold and Mrs Baxter for the biscuits and mini rolls! :)
